High on attitude
Article Abstract:
Marketing in the television broadcasting industry will be a key theme at the forthcoming 1997 Promax conference. Particular attention will be given to the use of 'attitude' in promotional work for television programmes. It is widely accepted that promotional work can play an important role in creating channel attitude. However, it is also acknowledged that there can be dangers associated with developing promotionals which have too much attitude. Some observers feel that producers of promotionals are working for their peers rather than their audience.

Brits ogle LA preeings
Article Abstract:
Hollywood studios are set to particularly target UK television programme buyers at the 1997 Los Angeles Screenings. This is because the launch of Channel 5 will increase competition among UK buyers for the most popular US television programmes. It is expected that up to 1,000 buyers will attend the 1997 event, and they will be targeted by both the leading studios and independent sellers. In some cases, negotiations for the most popular programmes begin before a screening has even ended.
