ITC and OFT to shape future of pick 'n' mix TV
Article Abstract:
A number of developments taking place at present are set to have a significant impact on the way in which television is 'consumed' in the UK. Most importantly, the Independent Television Commission is shortly to award digital terrestrial television (DTT) licences, while the Office of Fair Trading is to publish the findings of its inquiry into the Premier League and television rights. DTT will provide a much wider choice for viewers than conventional terrestrial television, even though there is no evidence that viewers are demanding a wider range of basic services.
