Mirror Group chief Blank predicts Live TV 'will break even by 1999.'
Article Abstract:
Mirror Group is anticipating the break-even point for its cable-exclusive channel Live TV to occur by the end of 1999 because its advertising revenues had grown by 82% during the first semester of 1998, noted Mirror Group chairman Victor Blank. Live TV also gained about a 10% increase in subscriptions for the initial six months of 1998 which is equivalent to 2.3 million television subscribers in the UK. In addition, Live TV is assured of steady distribution revenue until June 2005 since it is excluded from a ban on minimum carriage requirements for its present contracts by the Independent Television Commission.
