Murdoch eyes German TV targets
Article Abstract:
News Corp. may expand his channel holdings in the German television industry via small station Vox, where Rupert Murdoch has a 49% holding. Murdoch hinted at the great prospects of Vox in played-up statements issued at the Cologne Media Forum. He suggested acquiring other stations if the potential of Vox, which has a mere 2.6% of the national viewership, could not be maximized. Murdoch noted that is much room for expansion considering that only two of 34 private channels operating in Germany are making profits. He cited the importance of the ban on the planned alliance by big media firms Bertelsmann and Kirch.
