Employee hiring - verification of identity
Article Abstract:
Federal law requires all employers to verify and document an employee's identity and right to work. Most employees are required to complete an Employment Eligibility and Verification form which requests documented proof of identity in the form of a passport, driver's license, military card, and/or birth certificate. Employers must keep these files for a minimum of three years and make them available to INS inspectors if needed.
