Off the record, off the mark: the use of unnamed sources is a bad habit
Article Abstract:
Journalist David Shaw criticizes reporters' excessive use of unnamed sources in their stores. He attributes the prevalence of this practice to reporters' desire to be the first to break a story and to appear more knowledgable among their peers and superiors. However, he believes that this practice undermines accuracy, is self-perpetuating, does readers a disservice and encourages sources to require anonymity even when it is unnecessary.

An embattled foreign correspondent: international stereotypes flow in two directions
Article Abstract:
British journalist Suzanne Levy admits her guilt in succumbing to pressure from her editors and reporting stories on the idiosyncracies of Americans. These include stories such as pectoral implants for men and how Californians dyed their lawns green during a drought. However, she also accuses the American reporters of the same transgression, portraying the British as a group of nonconformists and eccentrics.
