Fox Kids on verge of deal with CWC
Article Abstract:
Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) has entered into an agreement with Fox Kids, its first major UK cable carriage deal, that would involve the exclusion of five channels from CWC's 1998 autumn programming line-up. The dropped channels will be replaced by children's service Fox Kids, Discovery's Animal Planet and the shopping channel Stop!, which is a joint venture between Littlewoods and the Granada Media Group. The channels that are expected to be dropped by CWC include Flextech TV's TCC, Bravo and Trouble and Landmark's Travel Channel. The Performance Channel had earlier been taken off from the CWC line-up because of its low ratings.

On Digital falters as Universal deal fails
Article Abstract:
On Digital's opportunity to manage US-based Universal Studios films has vanished with the cancellation of the deal between the studio and Carlton Communications to supply content for the venture's pay-TV movie and crime channels. Carlton is one of On Digital's backers. Due to the deal's demise, alternative programming must be secured by On Digital in a matter of eight weeks at the maximum and prior to its scheduled roll-out date in November 1998. Meanwhile, an insider shared that the deal failed to push through as the joint ventures with libraries are not reaching a consensus.
