Television production companies may have gained under the new terms of trade following Communication Act. However, these reforms have also presented an opportunity to television broadcasting companies to push back the licence fees. Tips are offered to television production companies for negotiating media rights allocations. Independent television companies are advised to enter into a contract with someone who can manage those rights.

Bidders line up for Premiership rights

Television broadcasters are scrambling for rights to telecast live Premiership football matches for 2007 - 2010. Premier League will be issuing the tenders shortly. In this context, the stipulations of European Commission are discussed. Premier League is offering six packages in such a manner that no single broadcaster will be able to acquire more than five.

Labour evades Kenyon scrutiny

The United Kingdom's Labour government denied permission to the British Broadcasting Co. (BBC) to send investigative reporter Paul Kenyon and his production staff to attend a party conference in October 2003. Kenyon was banned after it was discovered that he was investigating public money donations to the party.
