Radio 4's Mr Fix-it
Article Abstract:
Radio 4's new-look schedule is designed to make it more skilled in promotion, marketing, scheduling and presentation, according to controller James Boyle. He is taking a long-term view, being aware of the need to remain firmly in touch with the changing business environment. He is keen to ensure that Radio 4 is something that people regard as part of their lifestyle. Radio 4 does not necessarily wish to attract large numbers of younger listeners, but aims to ensure that their parents become full-time listeners.

Hughes talking
Article Abstract:
New Rewind Productions Managing Director Simon Hughes is looking forward to direct involvement in editorial work for the BBC. He acknowledges that the BBC is extremely powerful, but believes that the inefficiency of the BBC's in-house operations brings advantages for outside suppliers which have experience in the internal workings of the BBC. He will be responsible for managing the radio activities at Rewind Productions, which produced more than 300 hours of programming in 1996.
