Salmon questions ITV quality control
Article Abstract:
BBC 1 controller Peter Salmon has criticized the pledge made by the ITV Network Centre team to expand its programming mix. Salmon will praise ITV under programme director David Liddiment if the network strives to broadcast series documentaries, good risky comedy and daring drama. He added that while BBC 1 has no way of preventing the broadcast of shows such as "The World's Dumbest Car Crash," the channel has to pursue programmes with ambition such as the science series "The Human Body" and the natural history show "The Life of Birds." In addition, Salmon questioned ITV's decision not to broadcast "42 Up," the newest installment of the ground-breaking documentary from Granada TV.
