Self-censorship in Hong Kong
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong's news organizations have initiated a process of self-censorship to bag potential business opportunities in China vast though controlled media market. Self-censorship is gradually becoming the norm as blacklisted newspapers are denied permission to cover China which hinders their ability to gather news. China's increasing tough posture towards Hong Kong has also contributed to the tendency towards self-censorship among Hong Kong's news agencies. Members of Hong Kong's press corps offer their views on the trend towards self-censorship.

Article Abstract:
There are increasing efforts in the US to curtail the rights of the freedom of speech. Many self-proclaimed guardians of public sensibilities have taken it upon themselves to selectively oppose visual information material which they judge as offensive. It has been noted that censorsip in one way or another has been on the increase in the US. Members of the publishing industry should be vigilant in order to protect this important right.

Breaking censorship- making peace
Article Abstract:
An Eastern European dissident of Hungary describes his experiences with strict press censorship. Censorship represents the obstruction of communication which increases the danger of war. Dissidents took the view that breaking censorship enhances freedom and increases the prospects for peace. The freedom of the press will play an important role in helping citizens of new Eastern European democracies develop new rules of conduct.
