Shanghai Vice to star on Channel 4
Article Abstract:
Channel 4 plans to launch a new documentary series titled Shanghai Vice that will be produced by Phil Agland. The documentary serial, consisting of seven 60-minute shows, will be filmed in China to present the life of the Shanghai Police force and the city. Alan Hayling, C4 commissioning editor for documentaries, said the program shows the effect of depressed economy and a communist political system on the urban citizens of China. Shanghai Vice, which is considered as the successor to Agland's docu series titled Beyond the Clouds, is planned to be shown in the big screen on January 1, 2000.

Channel 4 to air TV Nation follow-up in spring 1999

Channel 4 (C4) will broadcast a yet untitled documentary-style series, 12 x 30-minute series, produced by Michael Moore, starting in the spring of 1999. The new series is an offshoot of Moore's former film TV Nation with filming already in process since June 1998. The new series, however, will have an audience participation with Moore playing a stand-up stint, and fictional elements unlike TV Nation. Moore announced that the series was already acquired by Bravo in the US while launching of the series on C4 is expected in February 1999 or March 1999.
