Staff at BBC News 24 angry at 'budget cuts'
Article Abstract:
BBC has claimed that the smaller budget for BBC News 24 in its second year of operation compared with the 26 million pound sterling used in the year to Mar. 31, 1998 can be attributed to start-up costs charged during the first year. Sources within the news channel, on the other hand, has claimed that the reduction of more than 1 million pound sterling is targeted at feature programs and daily operations. A spokesman from BBC has likewise acknowledged the trimming of feature programming but attibuted this to the completion of the programs rather than to budget constraints.
