Independent Television Commission's (ITC) new ruling concerning masthead programming has been criticized by UK's biggest satellite and cable companies, saying the regulation is 'a retrograde step' and is 'seriously damaging.' The new ITC ruling states that terrestrial, cable and satellite TV's masthead programs must minimize the use of visual references to the parent publication.Satellite & Cable Compliance Forum, an organization that represents all major cable and satellite firms, threatened they would file an official complaint with the regulator.

Gallagher leaves LWT for indie sector
Article Abstract:
LWT's Eileen Gallagher, the firm's managing director, is said to be resigning from the firm to join Shed Productions, a new independent outfit founded by Brian Park, as one of its partners. Gallagher, who refused to confirm nor deny the rumor, joined Granada/LWT as managing director in 1994 becoming the second-highest placed woman at ITV. Shed, whose other partner is Ann McManus, the former script writer of "Coronation Street," has already landed a one-year consultancy contract with Pearson Television to manage Channel 5's "Family Affairs."
