State aid or band aid? An evaluation of the European Commission's approach to public service broadcasting
Article Abstract:
The European's hands off policy towards state-supported public television is examined. Although cases charging unfair competition have been raised by commercial broadcasters, the Commission has rejected those claims saying that public television stations, even when specialized, fulfill a general public need.

The national assembly for Wales and broadcasting policy, 1999-2003
Article Abstract:
The impact on media-policy making, due to the formation of a new National Assembly for Wales, is described. The newly formed National Assembly has no clear broadcasting policy in place but has agreed to seek outside help by hiring expert assistance to frame a broadcasting policy.
