The BBC bonus culture
Article Abstract:
Even as British Broadcasting Corporation is axing a substantial number of jobs on the pretext of cost saving, approximately 15 million pounds sterling has been given to some staff members as staff bonus. Such an arbitrary stand by the public service broadcaster implies the need to review its practices, as it is a publicly funded company. ITV is also shutting down its news channel on the grounds of non-profitability.

Losing faith in BBC spin
Article Abstract:
BBC proposes to charge a licence fee of 150.50 sterling pounds in seven years' time towards the digital switchover. The funding will also help BBC to keep its staff's salaries above inflation levels. BBC continues to expect priority in allocation of funds, even as the other essential public institutions like hospitals are struggling for government finance. It is this attitude of BBC that needs to be changed.
