The conservation success index: synthesizing and communicating salmonid condition and management needs
Article Abstract:
The conservation success index (CSI), a tool analyzing population and habitat integrity and security of native salmonids within their historic range, is described. The CSI is expected to help in protection, restoration, reintroduction, and monitoring efforts and has been comple ted for seven trout and char species.

Current status and review of freshwater fish aging procedures used by state and provincial fisheries agencies with recommendatind for future directions
Article Abstract:
Freshwater fish aging techniques used by US and Canadian fisheries agencies are studied. The use of otoliths to age fish was found to be more accurate compared to other aging techniques. A reference database should be set up by fisheries agencies to facilitate information sharing.
