The third man
Article Abstract:
The purchase by United News and Media of HTV, which broadcasts in Wales and south-west England, is among a number of consolidation moves which have taken place in the ITV sector recently. Some observers believe that United News and Media Chief Executive Lord Hollick felt that the purchase of HTV was vital following the company's failure to win any digital terrestrial television licences. The move may also have been prompted by the contraction of the ITV sector. Firm plans for integrating the two businesses will be issued by the end of Sep 1997.
