Todd-AO puts GBP1.25m in Tele-Cine expansion

Todd-AO has declared it will spend 1.25 million pounds sterling to expand operations of Tele-Cine, its newly acquired subsidiary. Much of the Todd-AO's investment will go to the expansion of the company's transmission division, including the installation of two additional 2.4-meter satellite dishes on the roof of Tele-Cine's main building and another 3.7-meter dish on the adjacent premises. The investment also includes 250,000 pounds sterling, which will be spent to improve its Avid's suites, new media department and on general refurbishment.

Granada plans football 7 Up

Granada Television's factual division plans to produce a football documentary for ITV titled "The World at Their Feet." The 1-hour documentary, which is being touted as the modern version of the "7 Up" documentary, will follow the life of a group of boys as they attend the Football Association's soccer school of excellence at Lilleshall, UK. Slated to be delivered to ITV in November 1998, will have John Piper as director and Chris Wilson as producer, the duo responsible for the documentary "I Dreamed I Won the FA Cup."

VGF plans to raise GBP1.6m for growth

VFG, a facilities company, is proposing to issue 1.7 million conditional shares to generate 1.6 million pounds sterling to finance further expansion. The company, which has already raised about 750,000 pounds sterling from 1.5 million ordinary shares, is set to meet with shareholders to decide on the placing of the conditional shares. VFG intends to use the money to fund the expansion of its core hire operation, such as the opening of a new hire facility in Belfast.
