Uncovering Three Gorges Dam
Article Abstract:
News in the western world about the ongoing Three Gorges Dam project on the Yangtze River, China, reflects the way in which Northern America mainstream media in the 1980s responded to environment-related issues in China in general and the Three Gorges Dam in particular. The North American environmental community was to play a large part in focusing critical worldwide media attention to the Yangzi dam and China's ecologic problems in the early 1990s as they provided most of the information about the project and launched a sustained campaign effort.
