Veterans quit in Discreet shake-up

Discreet Logic's Graham Sharp, vice president of sales and marketing, and Terry Higgins, vice president of products, have resigned from their posts after a company-wide management shake-up. The two executives are among the most well-known and longest-serving vice presidents in the company. Discreet Logic declined to comment on the departure of the two executives, except to say that they are considering other interests outside the company. Sharp will be replaced by John Copher, VP for new media sales, and Paul Amlani, VP for advanced system sales. Higgins, meanwhile, will be replaced by Mahmoud Al-Daccak, formerly executive director of new media products.

CWC makes GBP13m investment in Two Way TV

Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) has invested 13 million pounds sterling for a controlling stake of 50.1% in Two Way TV, an interactive TV company. CWC plans to offer the interactive services of Two Way TV to customers when it introduces its digital cable service. Two Way TV, which is funded and supported by Ladbrokes and Vencom, revealed the administration of additional shares on July 6, 1998. Company Head of Marketing David Hughes said the agreement came after talks between Two Way TV and several other possible partners since late 1997.
