A component for change: Army Reserve must alter itself to meet anti-terrorism challenge
Article Abstract:
Unconventional and asymmetric threats resulting in the unpredictability and volatility of today's war theatre requires highly trained, rapidly deployable and responsive forces to be effective in a joint and coalition environment. A rebalancing plan that will pave the way to the creation of a flexible, optimized and modular Army Reserve, and provide stability and predictability, is formulated by the military services.

The Base Realignment and Closure Plan (BRAC) of Department of Defense is facing opposition and criticism from many senators. The political battle to save Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, is one of the best examples of 2005's fiercest attacks on the BRAC process.
