Article Abstract:
The Sea-Based X-band Radar (SBX) is likely to undergo sea trials and might make its way to the Pacific later in summer 2005. The SBX combines an advanced radar system with a mobile, ocean-going platform, which provides the Ballistic Missile Defense System with the ability to detect missiles aimed at any spot in the nation, to track, discriminate and assess incoming missile targets for the Missile Defense Agency.

Shoot to ... disable?: Nonlethal weapon offers flexibility, accuracy
Article Abstract:
Ammunition at Reduced Time of Flight (ART) is nonlethal weapon that can be fired from Oto Melara-produced 76mm naval guns to disable suspicious boats without endangering their crews. The ART system consists of a 43mm round with a clamshell-like attachment having a range of 17 miles and thus provides flexibility to an existing system, as well as extended range and improved accuracy.

End of the line: Third Seawolf attack sub closes Cold War-era program
Article Abstract:
Jimmy Carter, the third and final submarines in the Seawolf class is named after the 39th president and would be commissioned in early 2005. U.S. had intended to make around 29 Seawolf class submarines but due to end of the cold war between U.S. and their Soviet counterparts, the U.S. is expected to make only three submarines of this class.
