Anzac WIP has two-way split
Article Abstract:
Royal Australian Navy plans for the Anzac frigate Warfighting Improvement Program (WIP) now encompasses two distinct components. The original Anzac frigate construction project, Sea 1348, continues to encompass the undersea and surface warfare upgrade (USWUP), although the anti-air warfare (AAW) phase now comprises a separate project, called Sea 1443. WIP's Level 1 would furnish enhanced anti-ship missile defense and close-in defense against attacking aircraft, while Level 2 will offer improved air-warfare capability, by adding Link 16 inter ship/aircraft data communications, SM-2 missile, and up to two more Mk 41 vertical missile launching units. Level 3 would field the cooperative engagement capability, electronic attack, infrared search and tracking, and an on-board training system.

Two new corvette designs
Article Abstract:
Direction des Constructions Navales are promoting two new modular corvette designs. The C1200 and C1800 corvettes have been under development for two years. The C1800 will be the larger of the two at 90m, with a displacement of about 1,800 tons and a top speed of around 30kts. The modular architecture is designed around self defence weapon systems and ASW possibilities rather than specific fits. The new design features a stabilisation system that is comparable with that on La Fayette vessels, a full electronic warfare suite, lean manning with a crew of just 60, 3D multimode radar and electro-optical fire control systems.
