Canadian naval task group concept translates into readiness & sustainability
Article Abstract:
Vice Admiral, R.D. Buck, Chief of the Maritime Staff, National Defence Head Quarters (NDHQ) at Ottawa shares his experiences with the North American Navy, the changes in the organization, mission and tasks due to 9/11 and the increasing focus on littoral warfare. The Canadian naval task group has fully integrated with the coalition maritime forces and has helped to screen U.S. Marine amphibious/helicopter landings in Afghanistan, conducted maritime interdiction, and patrolled the Arabian Sea to cut off sea-borne escape routes for fleeing Taliban and Al-Qaida fighters.
