Combat engineer battalion in Operation Iraqi Freedom
Article Abstract:
Operation Iraqi Freedom proved that the combat engineers on the battlefield were insufficient and hence both the 1st and 2nd Combat Engineer Battalions (CEBs) were combined to support the combat operations in Iraq. The combining of two CEBs doubled the staff strength and they accomplished every mission that was assigned to them and provided the 1st Marine Division with an excellent engineering combat capability.
