Article Abstract:
Technology and geopolitics are the main causes of the revival of the interest in building full-sized large-deck aircraft carriers, which facilitate an independent platform for repeated and sustained operations in distant warfields and can be deployed as a crucial element in networked operations. The US CVN-21 and the Anglo-French CVF/PA2 are being designed with major innovative changes to internal systems and weapon handling to increase both surge and sortie rates, while also reducing maintenance costs and manpower requirements.
