Cultural self-abuse: Movies and the military
Article Abstract:
Film critic Michael Medved in his lecture at Michigan's Hillsdale College on the topic of contemporary treatment of war in Hollywood films stated that the truth is that war movies have changed in a fundamental way. He rejected the familiar argument that Vietnam permanently disillusioned Americans about government and the military saying that neither the American military nor the ordinary American's perception of the military has changed but Hollywood itself that has.
