EMT - RENK's solution for an electro-mechanical driveline of the future
Article Abstract:
Renk started the development of the Electro-Mechanical Transmission (EMT) System for tracked armored vehicles in 1998. Some of the advantages of the EMT include usability with turbine and high-density diesel engines; infinitely variable drive and steering; usage with high-performance generator; potential for stealth operation; and drive-by-wire. Renk said prototypes of the EMT would be available by 2003, with the first model designed for an input power of 1,100 KW.

RENK gear for WARP-drive of frigates for South Africa
Article Abstract:
Renk AG will supply the gear systems for the new South African corvettes built by Blohm+Voss. The corvettes would be powered by two MTU diesel engines Type 16V 1163 and a GE booster turbine type LM2500. The gears can be controlled by a programmable controller and is equipped with a conventional valve system to prevent the erroneous shifting during manual operation. Renk is also supplying the gears for the frigates operated by Portugal, Turkey, Greece and Thailand.
