European navies' MPA requirements

Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) is conceived as powerful anti-submarine means, capable to detect, track and destroy submarines as well as performs surveillance, electronic intelligence gathering and anti-ship warfare. Most of the European Navies are looking for new solutions to present MPA fleet undergo major overhauls or pursue the procurement of new aircraft.

Article Abstract:
The changing tasks of the Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA), which were frequently used today for missions they were not originally planned for, are discussed. The availability of modular MPA mission systems, like EADS-CASA FITS, THALES AMASCOS and Selex ATOS is one of the vital elements that explain the success of those solutions based on commercial airframes.
