Fencing in Africa
Article Abstract:
The fences of Ceuta and Melilla, two Spanish enclaves and part of the European Union (EU), surrounded by Moroccan Territory, are intended to curtail illegal migration and smuggling of contraband and narcotics from Morocco into EU region. But they are found to be ineffective in halting the flow of migrants and contraband across the Mediterranean, although the migration and organized crime have become more laborious after the construction of the walls.

Managing Mexican migration
Article Abstract:
The US plans to construct a fence barrier as a security measure to control illegal migration and illegal trade from Mexico in 2006. The planned fence construction faces legislative and political hurdles, and might prove to be a financial burden since the costs involved in building, patrolling, defending and maintaining it would outweigh the perceived benefits of cutting illegal immigration.
