First IRIS-T launch successful
Article Abstract:
The IRIS-T short-range IR-guided air-to-air missile was successfully tested at the Poligono Interforze di Salto di Quirra ground-launch system. The test flight demonstrated the the operationability of the missile's test firing sequence; safe separation of the missile from the launcher; rocket motor thrust profile in flight; aerodynamic characteristics; and inertial sensor unit, telemetry and flight termination system. The IRIS is being built by a consortium led by Germany's BWB and with BGT as the prime contractor.

EWK Eisenwerke Kaiserslautern GmbH of Germany is a producer of heavy defence engineering products. Currently, the company produces the Fast Floating Bridge M3 Amphibian MLC/100 W that provides for a 100 m bridge MLC 70T/100 W and is composed of eight M3's, a two-bay feery MLC70T and could carry any Main Battle Tanks of the same weight and the bridge could be operated in speeds of 3.5 m/s. The company also produces the Infantry Bridge with a span of 30 m.
