France signs up Thales for force protection
Article Abstract:
The French Defense procurement agency (DPA), after a six-month selection process, has signed up Thales Land & Joint Systems to design and develop a system demonstrator for land-based force protection by the end of 2007. The two-year project named, as Spectre is to be subjected to eight months of field trials and the lessons learned will be the foundation of an acquisition program to procure force-protection equipment for the French Armed Forces.

Bushmaster APV goes Dutch
Article Abstract:
The Netherlands defence ministry has entered into a deal with ADI-Thales in 2006 to procure 25 Bushmaster 4x4 mine-protected vehicles under the Armoured Patrol Vehicles (APVs) immediate operational requirement for its forces in Afghanistan. The APVs would provide protection from the increasing threats from the improvised explosive devices (IED) and land mines near the Dutch Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) site in southern Afghanistan.
