Article Abstract:
Modeling and simulation (M and S) systems are used by the battle planners and weapon designers to predict how weapons work. The US is leading a large international experiment, Multinational Experiment 4 (MNE4), with the Joint Forces Command (JFCom) Joint Concept Development and Experimentation Directorate responsible for bringing it all together and creating the network that will enable M and S tools and systems from different services and countries to talk to each other and see a common picture.

Training tomorrow's pilots, crews
Article Abstract:
Creating a training program for the instructors, pilots and maintenance crews of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft is a huge task spanning three US services and nine countries. A single training program with a common set of simulator and training equipment is being devised for all customers, regardless of services or nationality, and Lockheed Martin is considering a derivative of its NxTrain computer-based training system to help pilots familiarize with this new-era cockpit.

Trading technology: New office aims to stimulate industry-military collaboration
Article Abstract:
A system of technology transfers between industry and the US armed forces services that will speedily deliver real-world solutions to joint-force commanders is being developed by the US Joint Forces Command. Close attention is being paid to the transforming needs of the joint war fighters and the current acquisition process has to be upgraded so that integrated and coordinated systems such as the C2 systems are acquired swiftly and efficiently.
