Article Abstract:
The transformation of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) has its genesis in the 'Defense Policy Guidelines' and the 'Bundeswehr Concept' issued by the German Ministry of Defense in 2003 and 2004 respectively. Lt. Gen. Klaus-Peter Stieglitz explains the different ways in which the Bundeswehr hopes to help enhance the military capabilities of NATO and the EU.
