Harpoon Block II cleared for EMD
Article Abstract:
The US Navy has approved Boeing's Block II upgrade of the Harpoon antiship cruise missile for engineering and manufacturing development. The Harpoon upgrade will enable it to attack pierside, land and coastal targets including port facilities, pierside ships, parked aircraft, missile launch sites and coastal defense sites. Boeing will fund the development of the missile while the Program Executive Office for Cruise Missiles and Joint Unmanned Aerial Vehicles will provide test and evaluation support and program management with Boeing.

JASSM contract awarded to Lockheed Martin
Article Abstract:
Lockheed Martin has received from the US Navy and Air Force a contract to build the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM), which is a low-cost effective cruise missile designed for hard target attacks. JASSM cruise missiles can be air-launched from B-1, B-2, B-52,-F16, F-117, F/A-18, P-3, S-3 and the Joint Strike Fighter aircraft. The missile also is equipped with stealth, precision guidance and lethal target penetration technologies that allow for long distance strikes.

AGM-154A JSOW enters full-rate production
Article Abstract:
The US Naval Air Systems Command has awarded Raytheon Systems Co with a $133.9-million contract for a low-rate initial production of the AGM-154B version of the JSOW and a full-rate production of the AGM-154A JSOW. The Air Force and the Navy are planning to order around 4,800 AGM-154Bs and 11,800 AGM-154As. The contract also covers follow-on production options worth over $600 million that are spread over three years until 2003.
