LAV SLEP funded
Article Abstract:
A service life extension program (SLEP) for the Marine Corps' light armored vehicles (LAV) has been guaranteed a $221-million funding in the Navy's 2000 program objective memorandum budget plan. The SLEP is intended to prolong the life of the LAVs until 2015. Execution of the SLEP is expected between 2002 and 2005, with main focus at life sustainment instead of improved performance. A large portion of the funding will likely be spent on replacing parts such as electrical connectors. At the core of the SLEP is corrosion control.
