Looking in all the wrong places: one solution to improving diversity in the officer corps

The Marine Corps competes on college campuses for officer candidate recruits, although most college students already have careers planned. It would be more productive if the recuriting teams concentrated on high schools, and if scholarship programs were offered.

The Marine Corps set out to achieve certain standards of diversity in its Officer Corps by the year 2003. The program met with several setbacks, but an increase in diversity has been achieved, and lessons learned.
