The Yeoman Group has introduced the Yeoman XP1 portable mouse for maps. The firm specializes in Global Positioning Systems-associated navigation aids. The XP1 processes data from a hand-held GPS and electronically reads maps and indicates to a reader where one is, how far one has to go to reach a destination and the probable arrival time. The mouse plotter is connected to a personal GPS receiver and enables a user to read a map on a map holder and interactive pad.

DAP Technologies has introduced two ruggedized hand-held computers operated by Windows CE and Pentium chips at 190 MHz. The CE5240 and CE5320 Microflex portables provide high-speed IrDA communication at 4 Mbps, 16, 32, 48 or 64 MB of Dram and a 320x240 pixel LCD backlighted display with a touch screen option. The computers include a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity for two to three days of normal operation between charges.

Cutler Hammer Co, through its Navy Controls unit, has unveiled its Vision 520 flat panel display system. The 20.1-inch active matrix display system, which will be installed on avionics, surface ship and submarine platforms, boasts of an advanced 'flicker' compensation system. Cutler Hammer Vision 520's compensation system allows the user to control 'flicker' via very precise adjustments while maintaining optimum image quality.
