MONARC development moves up a gear after 'pre-selection' for F125 programme
Article Abstract:
Development of modular naval artillery concept (MONARC) naval 155 mm gun turret has lead to moving up the gear following what contractor Rheinmetall described as the turret's 'tentative pre-selection' as part of the armament solution for the German Navy's future F125 frigate programme. During its launch as a private venture in 2002, MONARC project group members included Howaldtswerke Deutsche Werft (HDW), Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), and Rheinmetall Waffe Munition (RWM).

Thales unveils Mk 2 naval tracking radar
Article Abstract:
Thales-NL (Hengelo, the Netherlands) has unveiled the Mk2 naval tacking radar, part of a solid-state upgrade programme for its STING-EO and STIR family of naval tracking radar. The main elements comprising the STING-EO Mk 2 configurations are the use of solid-state transmitters instead of a traditional wave tube (TWT) or magnetron, as well as the introduction of new receivers and processing techniques.
