Article Abstract:
A long term aviation staffing plan must be developed that enables, both enhanced combat readiness of nondeployed squadrons and meets the demand for forward air controller (FAC) and individual augmentation requirements to support the global war on terrorism. The recommendations provided are to increase the pilot training rate for all type of helicopter, to identify staffing goal increases in selected squadrons to reflect projected individual augmentation wartime requirements among others.

The fifth element in a post-9/11 world
Article Abstract:
The fifth element of the Marine air-ground task force (MAGTF) is more relevant as a national security strategy now than during 11 September 2001. The commanders are required to provide support to personnel who are deploying in support of Operating Forces and have to accomplish their traditional missions as well.
