The impact of the January 2005 arrests of pro-imamate Ibadi activists and their aftermath on political stability in the Sultanate is explored a year after a counterterrorism crackdown sent waves through Oman's typically placid political scene. Oman's security services are developing a more subtle approach to dealing with security challenges, to control the growing political risks.
