Kurds aim to secure continued regional control
Article Abstract:
Kurds for long have retained autonomy in their region even under the regime of former President Saddam Hussein despite pressures to join the mainstream in the country. In postwar Iraq, the Kurds want to continue with the same arrangement, but they are facing a lot of opposition on the political arena and from the ordinary average person, as many elements want to blend in with the mainstream politics.

Egypt set to broker Gaza pull-out
Article Abstract:
Israeli foreign minister Silvan Shalom announced that Europe and Israel would enter into an agreement under which Cairo would move more troops to the boarder with the Gaza Strip to enhance security following an Israeli withdrawal. The rapprochement between Israel and Egypt began on March 11 when Israeli Foreign minister Silvan Shalom went to Cairo to discuss the disengagement plan.
