Peace maker: A security mechanism for Northeast Asia?
Article Abstract:
The six-party talks has had greatest success in mapping out a possible future resolution to the North Korean nuclear crisis and also outlining the creation of working groups to address the complex modalities of North Korean disarmament. However, the success of such a mechanism may probably be obstructed by regional antipathies and the U.S. policy.

Pyongyang defiant on nuclear programme

Pyongyang was forced to strengthen its nuclear deterrent as North Korea finds itself isolated in the first round of its multilateral talks on Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions. North Korea maintains that it does not possess nuclear weapons, but the official line is to neither confirm nor deny accusations about its nuclear programme.

USA and North Korea edge towards nuclear compromise
Article Abstract:
First round of six-party talks held in August 2004 showed signs that Pyongyang and Washington were both edging towards some sort of compromise. However, the decision to suspend a US$4.5 billion project to provide Pyongyang with two light water reactors has cast doubts over attempts to end the diplomatic standoff.
