Raytheon: Subcontract for DD21 next-generation work
Article Abstract:
Raytheon Systems Co has been awarded a subcontract by Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of Litton Industries, to participate on the Phase 1 system concept design for the next-generation DD 21 Destroyer Program. Raytheon and Ingalls, called the Gold Team, have 14 months to jointly develop one of two competing concept designs. The two companies are competing against Blue Team of Lockheed Martin and Bath Iron Works to develop concept designs for the DD 21.

Class 214 - a new class of air-independent submarines
Article Abstract:
The German shipbuilding firm Howaldstwerke-Deutsche Werft is the general contractor for the construction of the Class 214 submarine. The 214 was developed from the 209 submarine range and its most important feature is its air-independent extended underwater endurance. Its other important features are low displacement, superior stealth capabilities and a high payload in the sensor and weapons fields.
