Canadians opt for new readiness system
Article Abstract:
The Canadian Navy will adopt a tiered readiness system aimed at reducing its operating costs. Under the 'Maritime Command Capability Planning Guidance' document, the Navy will begin focusing its resources on two high readiness Task Groups beginning Apr 1, 2000. These include the Contingency Task Group, to be maintained at 30 days notice for naval deployment, and the National Task Group, which will be maintained at 60 days notice for deployment.

Canadian government boosts defense budget
