Russian Baltic Fleet must wait for Novik
Article Abstract:
The first Project 1244.1 light frigate for the Russian Navy has to wait another four years before seeing itself in service, according to the commander of the Baltic Fleet, Vladimir, Yegorov. The officials says the first of class, Novik, is currently set to enter service into the fleet by 2003. Western experts say the limited funding which have plagued Russia's naval shipbuilding efforts in recent years could further restrict construction. Novik is the first of a new type of multi-purpose patrol ship aimed at escort duties, offshore surveillance and interdiction.

KBR set to lose role in UK CVF alliance
Article Abstract:
KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton, is likely to lose its place as a partner in the Aircraft Carrier Alliance (ACA) formed to deliver the United Kingdom's Future Aircraft Carrier programme because of mixed reactions regarding KBR's contribution as part of the alliance team. Company sources and the U.K. Ministry of Defense believe they have added value to the continuing demonstration phase but the other members of the alliance have downplayed the role of the KBR.
