Selection and training of adjutants within the Marine Corp
Article Abstract:
The existing recruitment and training procedures for adjutants throughout the Marine Corps are in critical need of review in the face of the trend toward consolidation. Adjutants need to be adequately trained to meet the needs of commands at battalion/squadron to the regimental/group level. Their training must include the recognition of legal officers as being part of adjutants' military occupational specialty. They need to be financed to attend the Legal Officer's Course at one of the Naval Justice Schools prior to or within the first six month of reporting to the Operating Forces.

Now you can choose your retirement plan: will you make the smart choice?
Article Abstract:
The FY 2000 defense Authorization Act has improved the retirement benefits of Marine Corps service members and has given them two options for retirement compensation in their 15th year of service beginning in FY 2001. These options are the REDUX/Bonus plan and the High-Three plan. Marine Corp personnel who are not knowledgeable about these plans may make the wrong choice. An evaluation of both options indicates that the High- Three plan is more beneficial to members in a number of ways.
