Shooting for the stars: Don't expect a 'Space Corps' anytime soon
Article Abstract:
The Air Force has targeted most of the people whose backgrounds would qualify them for a future cadre of space-qualified professionals but an independent space corps would be dysfunctional if set up separately in spite of the development of the cadre of such professionals. A number of factors taken into consideration include whether the cadre program actually works to boost leadership in the space business, what space systems the military decides to operate and other such events

Article Abstract:
The United States Air Force has identified majority of the people whom they consider suitable for a future cadre of space-qualified professionals. The Air Force has identified 7024 active duty members with skills that can be applied to space corps and plans to identify 3000 more members from the Reserve and civilian category but experts feel that this cadre of space corps could be used by the Air Force for their own services.

Air Force is upgrading its AC-130 gunships with network-centric components that will make them more interoperable with other combat systems and improve lethality and loiter capability. The Air Force Special Operations Command, or AFSOC experts believes that AC-130 has a solid place in 21st century warfare and the special operations community requires more gunships.
