The "last hope": Russian Close-In Weapon Systems
Article Abstract:
The Russian shipborne Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) is designed to engage enemy anti-ship missiles at the closest distance and a series of proposals for upgrading the existing systems are disclosed. The Russian CIWS, including AK-630, AK-630M 1-2 ROY, the hybrid gun/missile KORTIK and PALASH are assessed.

A brief history of "thunders"
Article Abstract:
The history and the development of the Chinese air-to-air missiles (AAMs), called 'Thunder', are discussed. The Russian RS-2U missile provided its pattern to the Chinese PL-1 AAM, IR-guided PL-2 AAM was the copy of the Soviet R-3 and the PL-5 AAMs features were borrowed by AIM-9G.
